Marisa from Slimming World (Baxenden) has help to many people get their health, confidence and general well being back, she is amazing! She isn’t a consultant that sees you once a week and leaves you to get on with it. She supports you all the way, often putting us first above herself. Her support comes in many ways from a quick phone call to see how you’re getting on, replying to FB messages often at anytime of the day or popping round to see you personally. She leads by example as she has, and still is, winning her own battle with weight issues. She speaks from experience. She is an inspiration. Marisa’s group feels like an extended family and that is because she is the foundation of the group.
You should consider nominating her for Enterprising Person as well. We want to celebrate people who go beyond what they do to help and inspire others.
Marisa from Slimming World Baxenden is our guardian angel and an inspiration to us all. She is always there for you even if she is on holiday you will get a reply. She has been through and is still going through what everyone in her groups are; so everything she talks about you know is sincere. She can make us laugh even in our darkest moments. Some people go to other Slimming World groups and always make an extra effort to come back to Marisa for the fab time and her amazing enthusiasm. It is a business for Marisa but I know she does it more because of how much she can help others.
Marisa is a star who goes above and beyond what is required of her. She is available anytime to help her members and will always be there to help everyone.
I really think that Evonne Harwood really deserves the award of Enterprising Person. Not only does she run her own unique business on Warner Street called Pink Magpie Vintage Emporium, but she does a lot for charity and the homeless as well as organising several events which have brought thousands of people into town. Most recently she helped organise an event on Broadway for the Queens Birthday & St Georges Day which was very successful. She also organised an event in December which was a Dickensian Night which attracted around 7000 to the Warner Street & St James Church area. She is also now in the process of organising a “We do like to be beside the seaside” event to the Warner Street area, which will bring thousands more into town. These are all unique events which have never been tried here before and show her to be incredibly enterprising. Its even more remarkable that she can do all this as she is also carer to her Severely Disabled Son. She deserves this award so much.
Yes I’d second the nomination of Evonne Harwood too, a very selfless person indeed who helps so many others.
I’ve nominated Evonne Harwood. I agree with the above, totally selfless, always putting others before herself, runs a great business Pink Magpie Vintage on Warner Street and is doing all kinds of positive things for the Town, which is desperately needed right now.
I nominate Allsports
Fantastic after school club for children
Amazing with children and takes pride in what they do
There always thinking of new ideas
And the kids love them
To add to the above, Evonne Harwood showed yet again why she fully deserves this award. She helped organise the “Oh we do like to be beside the seaside” event on Sun 29th May which was a huge success, bringing over 8,000 people into the town on a Sunday & providing stalls, entertainment, a Beach area, funfair etc for old & young alike. She really deserves recognition for all she does.
